Seven of Swords

The seven of swords is a card that elicits a myriad of responses at first look. It’s a card that can carry many interpretations that are somewhat varied in regards to what the reader is intuitively drawn to. While none of the meanings particularly negative, the image does portray a sort of trickster type of vibe. So let’s take a look and get to know this card a bit deeper.

Here we see a young man tip toeing away from what looks like traveler tents, could possibly be carnival or military tents, carrying 5 swords while two are stuck in the ground behind him. The terrain he is walking on is fairly smooth versus the terrain behind him with is varied in color and texture. Most noticeably he has a smirk on his face and a red fez hat on. The question is, is he getting away with something bad or good? The fez indicates spiritual awareness and there is a very good probability that he is taking weapons from those who should not have them. Perhaps he is preventing an attack or alternately he could be from another encampment and is stealing from the enemy, without us knowing which camp is benevolent. But again, the fez indicates some spiritual awareness so it is highly likely this smirking thief is in the right.

When this card is pulled in a reading it is a signifier that you could probably get away with something if you want it. It could also be a sign to just ask for what you want or need because the odds are in your favor, no matter the request. It is often considered an “ask and you shall receive” card and is for the most part showing a beneficial outcome. Additionally it is about using your mind and intellect to provide the desired outcome. How can you inspire the person you wish to gain favor with to see it your way and how can you make them feel heard enough to create an energy of reciprocity? In Magical Tarot Madame Pamita states:

“this card is clearly about using a quick wit and silver tongue to get away with something. It can mean strategizing and planning something that you’re going to get away with or using your wits on the fly to get the better of a situation”

Whenever I pull this card I know someone is up to something and if they aren’t yet, I know they will be. There’s always been something about the guy in the pic that just screams out to me when I read this card intuitively... I can almost picture someone tiptoeing out of a delicate situation having just weaseled into something or preparing to weasel into something, and being very proud of their attempt and/or achievements. Like he knows hes gonna get what he wants... he’s practically pussyfooting, which is hilarious in its own way. Definitely lawyer or salesperson vibes...
