Knight of Swords

Knight of swords is a truly powerful card and has a lot of symbolism to support that. While the swords are very mental in nature and while a lot of the cards are warnings against our mind getting the best of us, this card seriously celebrates the power of the mind. Let’s take a look;

This card shows us an extremely dynamic image of a decorated knight on a white horse, sword raised to the cloud filled sky, charging full speed into whatever challenge is in front of him.  The wind is blowing the trees wildly, the background is smooth and becomes a bit more rocky and mountainous in the foreground. A flock of birds soar in the sky amidst the floating clouds moving with the breeze. The knight of swords is the ideal of youth, strength, courage, steadfastness, and intensity.

The knight of sword personifies someone who is boldly moving in the directions of their hopes and dreams, regardless of the challenges that they face on the way there. Some may think those warriors who run to their death are fearless, but that would suggest they hadn’t considered the possibility they may not come out of the battle alive. On the contrary, warriors are courageous because they have thought about the reality they may not come out alive and chose to forge ahead regardless. They want what’s on the other side of the fear... the victory.

When the knight of swords is pulled in a reading it is a sign that whatever you are facing/wanting/desiring, whether it is the job, the relationship, the life goal, whatever it is, now is the time to charge full on into it. Regardless of the uncertainty or challenges, you must be courageous, reach out and take it. Show the universe you have what it takes to go after your dreams and move boldly into your future. It can also be a sign to defend yourself and speak up against whatever is challenging you. Whatever the challenge is that is in front of you, the card beckons you to face your fears and ride into the wind knowing the universe is supporting you.

I love this card because sometimes it seems like it is something different than it is. It seems like hastiness and macho-ness, marching head strong into a situation with out any care for the potential outcomes. But in reality, it is steadfastness and an awareness that the battle may be challenging and intense, the outcome will be favorable. The knight didn’t earn his title because of his inability to strategize and succeed no matter the challenge. He earned his title because he has proven that in the face of danger he will move forward using his wits and skill to achieve the outcome he desires.

Be the knight! Call upon your courage and muster up your will and go after whatever it is that is calling your heart.
