Seven of Cups
The seven of cups has always been a really interesting card for me. I think it has to do with the fact that the scene seems to be a little more fantastical than most other minor arcana.
First we see what appears to be a shadow of a person, with their back to us. This person is staring off into the distance at what appears to be a large cloud filled with a variety of things all nestled into 7 different cups. Each cup contains something different and each item has a specific meaning that can be interpreted by the reader. There is: a castle(stability/personal power), jewels and gold(wealth/success), laurel wreath in the cup with a skull image, which can be a little challenging to make put at first(success/victory), dragon(power/strength OR energies that need to be banished), floating head(particular person of influence/wisdom),veiled figure(secrets/psychic mysteries/unknown), snake(goddess energy/rebirth OR risk).
This person is clearly tasked with making a decision about which cup or cups they want to choose and what they want to do with the thing(s) they choose.
The seven of cups is all about looking at what’s in front of you and making a conscious choice as to what you want to do with all these things. What do you want to keep and what do you want to get rid of? What needs to be nurtured and what needs to be released? Often we find ourselves paralyzed with fear in the process of making a big decision, but regardless of our fear or doubt, we are required to make a decision so that we may move forward. This card is urging us to not only imagine the possibilities, but also to listen to our intuition so that we can feel confident in the choice we ultimately make. How lucky and blessed we are to be presented with a multitude of options! If only we can get our of our heads and drop down into our heart, letting it lead us to our greatest success yet; that of trusting our inner divine guidance to show us what we need to release and what we need to claim.
