Page of Cups

The page is the first of the court card, in each suits. The page of  cups is no different in his position of novice, but the characteristics are different than the other suits. Let’s take a look…

Here we see a young man standing near flowing water, with a neutral sky behind him. The flowing water represents the flow of emotions, psychic connection, and emotion. He is dressed in a handsome tunic decorated with lotus blossoms, an ancient symbol of spiritual awakening, and a beautiful blue hat with a scarf attached that flows as if it was water signifying the flow of emotions and intuition that as many novices know can initially disturb or irritate the analytics mind. His short and tights are red, symbolizing worldly pleasure and presence, letting us know that he, first and foremost, has a solid foundation in the material world. In his right hand he holds a gold chalice and in it a small fish, and he seems to be communicating with the fish, as if the fish is offering him some wisdom. The fish is clearly magical, how else would it survive out of water? Perhaps this fish is a magical guide through the newly discovered psychic and emotional terrain this page is now embarking upon.

When drawing or receiving this card in a reading, it can often represent a person who is emotionally sensitive and experiencing a new connection to their psychic gifts. It can represent an emotionally immature person, but they are eager to understand their emotions and are eager to connect. It can also be a sign the universe is offering you a gift of romantic connection, psychic awareness, or emotional fulfillment. This may be coming after a short period of learning how to connect with these parts of one’s self more deeply, and express them as well. The page is ultimately innocent and somewhat naive but means well, so the cards pulled alongside the page of cups can help to clarify how he will show up for you.
