11: Justice

The 11th card in the major arcana is Justice and within many clues are provided to its meaning and purpose in a reading.. let’s take a look..

Our initial glance at the card we sees woman dressed in red robes symbolizing connection with successfully manifesting in the material world, a crown signifying her authority both in spirit and material worlds. Justice is of course holding her scales symbolizing her part in karmic justice and the weighing of deeds, and her sword represents the clarity of vision and connection to intuition needed to weigh all things carefully. She sits on a chair between two pillars, with a red cloth hiding what is beyond her judgment. The two pillars are reminiscent of the High Priestess card, where the querent must earn the right to traverse beyond the boundaries of the known, into the realm of the teachings of the Goddess and esoteric mystery schools.

The justice card is showing us that karma is coming around the corner. The law of balance and karma, what goes around comes around, is about to bestow something to you, regardless of how it may look in your life. It is a sign to keep your heart open in gratitude for the lessons you are receiving as a result of your past. Be keen to accept that karma isn’t good or bad, it just is and it’s just as possible to have a blessing came your way, as it is a lesson. The Justice card is kinda of a sister to the Wheel of Fortune card as just like the wheel, it can go either way when it shows up on your door. While the Wheel is a result of pure luck, the Justice card is all karma.

Finding this card in a reading can signify many things with a few being; positive outcomes with the law or in legal cases, karma coming back to you so that balance can be restored, a Libra/judge/lawyer in your life, reaching a significant level in your spiritual progress that is most likely resulting in a spiritual test to balance past actions.

I feel like getting the justice card is like the judgment card in a way… like whatever is about to come, you’ll have to handle it because deep down you know why this is happening, good or bad. It’s an opportunity to strip off our ego and take responsibility for our life, and all the things we’ve done without judgment against self. To pass through the pillars, beyond the red cloth, we must be pure of heart… now that doesn’t mean to be perfect, rather it means to give love to all parts of yourself and allow compassion to surround all past harms you’ve caused to self or others while asking for and giving forgiveness. We must have learned to not transgress those same harmful boundaries again. When we are weighed down by the past we can’t be in our innocence, and the Justice card gives us the opportunity to see what else needs to be healed to pass through the pillars she guards.
