Page of Swords

The page of swords is the first in the series of four court cards for the swords family. The first card in the series carries a specific energy with it, even though it is not the first in the minor arcana, it is a signifier of moving into a place of mastery. Page cards are in the beginning of the journey to mastery and so the page of swords doesn’t have as much mastery as the king or queen, but has a more than the number cards in the minor arcana. Let’s go ahead and take a look at the page of swords and see what he has to teach us!

Here we have a young man, standing in a field on seemingly uneven ground, there are some light fluffy clouds in the field and birds in the sky. A light breeze fills the air, as we see the trees in the background are billowing, and so is his ponytail. While he holds a sword, its with a pretty awkward grip, making it seem like perhaps he hasn’t mastered the weapon he possesses. Also, he’s moving forward over the terrain and at the same time he’s gazing backwards. While the image we see has a positive feel and energy to it there is definitely an energy of newness, not necessarily novice energy but more the energy of a new level to master.

This guy is ready to jump into his new experiences and see all that is coming on this next part of the journey, he is aware he will probably stumble on the way. He will also most definitely get up anyway and keep moving through any and all challenges he faces, with the energy of someone who knows they’ve put all this time and energy into learning something and now it’s time to experience it. He’s all about innovation and taking chances on ideas he has in the spur of the moment! That’s what life is all about for the page of swords! If you’ve ever taken time to learn something in theory, and then had to execute it experientially, you know there is another type of learning curve you will face. This is what the page of swords embodies, the intellectual theory that is the precursor to putting the learning into action. Of course the time spent learning before executing provides an air of confidence one wouldn’t have without doing so, a sort of innocence and newness that isn’t necessarily present otherwise.

Ultimately this card when pulled in a reading is all about going into whatever project with enthusiasm and bringing original and fresh ideas to the table. Only a real go getter moves forward with excitement even though they may not know exactly what will happen. This card is your sign to go ahead and face whatever is happening with fresh eyes and a bright constitution because you may end up with innovative ideas out of the blue that only you could manifest.
