King of Swords

The final court card in the swords suit, is the king of swords. Although I feel the queen of swords should really be higher on the list than the king, but that’s my bias, lol. The king and the queen have quite a bit in common in regards to appearance and meaning but there are several differences in meaning.

Here we see a regal king sitting on his throne, the clear sky above his head, clouds hovering low in the background. His golden crown is adorned with butterflies and  butterfly wings as is his throne. His sword is held in his right hand and pointed high above to the clear sky. All these parts of his image are similar to the queen of pentacles, expressing his clear mind where he has mastered his intellect, the brilliance of his mind receiving messages from a higher place and his ability to communicate these messages from a place of clarity. The butterflies are similarly a symbol of his divine ordinance and appointment as well as further support of his divinely guided desire to help change or transform humanity.

What’s different is that he is has a blue gown, symbolizing calmness and tranquility, he is gazing directly at the reader. His left palm is turned down but has a ring on his middle finger, the finger ruled by Saturn in palm reading, which is a symbol of authority. The fairy over his left shoulder shows he is divinely supported and also has ability to express divinely guided logic. The two birds over his left side further suggest his ability to pass on divine knowledge and guidance from a place of fairness and clarity.

When this king shows up in your reading, it is a sign that you may need to take some time to discern and reconcile two differing views, from a place of relaxed and peaceful clarity. The answers you are looking for are within your reach but you will need to quiet your mind to receive the answer rather than force it.  Alternately it can suggest you are a visionary who has the ability to see mundane things from a higher viewpoint and that while it may be somewhat challenging for you to express these viewpoints, with quiet contemplation you have the ability to become the master of your intuition.
