Queen of Cups
The Queen of Cups is such a powerful card rife with symbolism and meaning. As all Queens in the tarot, the Queen of Cups represents an area of mastery in the Feminine aspect.
Here we see a woman, crowned Queen, sitting on her throne at the shores edge. She is holding a very large and ornate chalice and this chalice is not like any other chalice in the suit of cups. The other chalices are quite simple or plain, but the queens chalice is bejeweled and there is a cover on it, as well as angels, standing on either side of the chalice, presumably the handles. The Queen is seemingly looking right through it, as if there is something inside that can only be seen with a psychic sense. This chalice symbolizes a level of psychic connection and ability that supersedes any other cup card. This Queen has perfected her connection to the spiritual and as such it has allowed her to see things and perceive things that other cannot. There are cherubim all over her throne, showing us that she is divinely guided in her gifts and that she has the blessing of The divine feminine in her leadership role as Queen. Not only that, but her ability to connect to her deep emotions and especially love in its purest form has given her riches beyond measure. As we can see, her feet are resting in beautifully colored stones and her shining golden crown is large and bejeweled. As a matter of fact, not a single thing she possesses isn’t bejeweled and ornate. Even her gown is a beautiful delicate white with lace patterns and her robe looks to be made of flowing water, like the water just beyond her feet swirling around in the ocean.
Receiving the Queen of cups in a reading clearly tells us that we have not only fully taken ownership of our psychic gifts and intuitive abilities, but we have mastered our flow of emotions and allow them to flow without detriment to our psyche. We have been given countless riches, as a result of us accepting and developing these skills and are supported by the divine realms as we journey even deeper into the mysteries of the universe. Of course this card could also mean we will be meeting someone like this soon and that they will be bringing us a gift of emotional and psychic fulfillment and riches.
Whatever way we connect to the Queen, and how she shows up in our reading, it is a sure sign that a beautiful experience of emotional and psychic renewal is coming to us and that we have mastered some part of that area of life.
