Nine of Cups
The nine of cups is a special minor arcana, as it has a sort of secret meaning. Although if you study tarot and know the cards it isn’t a secret at all… let’s take a look!
The nine of cups is a picture of accomplishment! We see a gentleman in a white robe with a red hat sitting with his arms crossed and a smile on his face. He is clearly very pleased with himself and knows he has come a long way to accomplish so much. Behind him is a banquet table, covered in a blue cloth, with 9 cups atop set out along the entire table. These cups represent emotional fulfillment, the result of a job well done, which he is now ready to celebrate. The white gown let’s us know the actions he took to complete this task we’re spiritually oriented, and at the same time he has remained equally as focused on the pleasures of the material world. His crossed arms show he has healthy boundaries and only allows those that are his equals into his life, and those cups are all put for him to share his good fortune with the people he has kept close to him.
The special thing about this particular card, is that it is known as “the wish card” or the card of wish fulfillment. Often when you receive this card in a reading it is a sign that either a wish is coming true, one you may have not even remembered making, or that this is the perfect time to make a wish. Wishing is so magical it reminds our heart of how joyful we got in the presence of magic, when we were children. As a cup card, and the cups being about emotions, intuition, and psychic energy, this card always has a super luxurious fulfilling quality that inspires and encourages. Definitely one to be grateful for!
