Four of Wands

Image
The four of wands is, to me, a pretty straight forward card, depicting celebration and other positive life experiences. Of course the variety of the celebration depends on what part of the card you feel pulled to in a specific reading, especially if you’re reading intuitively, and in relation to what other cards are pulled. Let’s take a look and dive right in! The first thing we see is the canopy in the foreground made of four posts with garlands of flowering and fruit bearing plants. This very much resembles a chuppah which is a traditional fixture at a Jewish wedding and symbolizing the building of a home together. Beyond that, we see a couple dressed in togas and holding hands, bouquets of flowers raised above their head in celebration. Behind them is a gathering of people, and a large castle with a grand bridge. The sky is clear and the color hello could signify the sun is shining bright on this day. You cannot help but to get happy or excited looking at this picture, with so ...

Three of Wands

The three of wands can be a little frustrating to see come up in a reading but its a good kind of frustrating. Looking at the card, there are many different clues as to what is underlying the physical image we see.  This is a picture of a man standing on top of a hill or mountain, looking far out to the sea beyond him. He holds three wands with him, and is cloaked in checkered sash, red and yellow cloak, with a bit of armor poking out from underneath the robe. The terrain beyond the sea is mountainous but not so much so that it looks impassible.  This man has gained success/power/wealth/acknowledgement in the material world as symbolized by the red robe, the yellow signifying a level of trust in spirit, and the checker sash representing the gift of strategy and logic. He is possibly a merchant taking one last look at his ships as they sail out of his sight and onto their route. He has ...

Two of Wands

Image
The two of wands is a card all about vision and adventure and taking the necessary action to implement said vision. While there are a lot of symbols on the card to support this, the picture itself is pretty clearly showing us this.  This card presents us a picture of a man looking out beyond the walls of his kingdom/castle. In one hand he holds a wand or staff and in the other he holds a globe. A second wand rests on the castle wall next to him. Beyond the castle wall, we see homes and forests and mountains and water, truly a variety of scenery. The sky is clear and the water is calm… this man is dressed in a red cloak and hat and next to him is a painting or banner of two lilies entwined with two roses, forming an “x” or cross.  At first glance we can see that while he has material wealth and status, he is very much wanting to move beyond what he has already acquired and out into the world. Perhaps he wants to see what else he can gain from venturing out and trusting hi...
